Mexico loves a party! There's an excuse to celebrate every sunny day, but there are a few days that are extra special.
On the following dates, the entire town of Melaque throws a fiesta:
| March 16 | St. Patrick is the local patron saint, so Paddy's Day is celebrated in high style. This fiesta usually stretches on for over a week. | |
| Easter Week | Semana Santa is celebrated from the Monday before Easter until Easter Sunday. Pascual is celebrated for the following week. | |
| May 1-5 | This is a week long celebration covering Labor Day on May 1, to the anniversary of the Battle of Puebla on May 5. | |
| Nov. 1 | The Day of the Dead is one of Mexico's most famous fiestas. With parades, costumes, and general revelry, people honor the day the dead come back to visit their families. | |
| Dec. 5-12 | Virgin of Guadalupe, a celebration of Mexico's patron. Children dress up in indigenous costumes and parade the streets. | |
| Christmas | Christmas is celebrated from a week before Christmas day to New Year's day. |
Note: Most stores are open on these days. Some banks and government offices may be closed, but ATM services are available.
